Paris, May 5 and 6, 2026 – During the National E-Invoicing Forum Days, held on May 5 and 6, 2026, in Paris, Lucile Tavernier, Deputy Director of the e-invoicing project at the DGFiP, the French Directorate General of Public Finances, introduced the implementation of the French reform, scheduled for September 1, 2026.
Following her presentation, Dokapi's representative Mathieu Pasture had the opportunity to speak with her and her colleague, Grégory Desigaux, about the differences between the French and Belgian approaches.
Dokapi is also a certified Peppol access point for secure and compliant document exchange. As a result, 11.5% of affiliated Belgian companies currently use Dokapi technology for electronic invoicing.
In particular, Mathieu shared feedback from Belgium's experience implementing e-invoicing since January 1, 2026, especially regarding the challenges related to invoice transmission. Before the launch, many in the industry wondered how the implementation would unfold and whether there would be a risk of transmission errors between Access Points.
Unique expertise as a strategic lever
As part of his role as an elected expert on OpenPeppol's Change Management Board for the eDelivery Domain Community, Mathieu leads a working group on transmission errors between Access Points. Four months after the Belgian launch, it is clear from this working group that transmission issues appear to be resolving in a fairly cooperative manner among the various Access Points.
This is a reassuring observation, and one that may help give France confidence as it undertakes its own particularly ambitious reform. France plans to implement the so-called "corner 5" model directly, with the additional transmission of electronic invoices to the administration, a choice that differs from the Belgian model, which is currently based on "corner 4," without direct government involvement in the exchanges.
Belgium has chosen a two-stage implementation: a first phase in 2026 focused on exchanges between business partners, followed by a second phase in 2028 that will also include the transmission of data to the administration. At that point, feedback from the French experience will be crucial for Belgium.
As this experience illustrates, sharing knowledge among European Peppol authorities should certainly be encouraged if the e-invoicing reform is to become a success on an international scale and Dokapi, through Mathieu Pasture's active involvement, is proud to contribute to that effort.
